Foster Care Information Session | Kids Out and About Phoenix

Foster Care Information Session

*The event has already taken place on this date: Wed, 10/02/2024
With over 3,000 children/teens in foster care (newborn -18), individuals/families in every community are needed as foster parents. In collaboration with DCF, a free two-hour information session on becoming a foster parent in CT is offered to learn about fostering.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

The Annie C. Courtney Foundation, in collaboration with CT DCF, is actively looking for foster parents for CT children and teenagers.  Attend a two-hour, free, virtual Zoom information meeting, conducted twice weekly.

CLASSES IN SEPTEMBER:

Sept 5/10/12/16/18/20/24/28

When you care for these children, you are supported with many resources. Foster families receive assistance with medical and dental care, and a daily stipend to cover the costs of caring for a child. Social workers visit regularly to support families and the children under their care. Additional services are provided for kids who need them.

If you enjoy fostering children’s strengths and dreams, fostering stability and resilience, fostering empathy and caring in children and youth…this may be the best decision you’ll ever make.

Foster care provides a nurturing home for children while their parents develop and enhance the skills needed to safely return their children home. These skills will also sustain families long after reunification. Foster parents don’t just foster children; they foster children’s families and offer support and encouragement to parents and children as they become healthy and whole again.

Caring for a child helps the child and family heal while enriching your life.  “I cannot believe I get to do this job,” states one CT-licensed foster parent.  “The satisfaction I get is seeing the kids I care for start to blossom. I love seeing a child’s self-confidence grow. The most amazing thing is when a child starts to feel safe and secure, and you can see the worry and stress melt away.”
