This Independence Day, the Arizona History Museum invites the community to beat the Arizona heat and celebrate the nation’s story through Arizona’s rich history at the Arizona History Museum. The museum will be open to the public from 10 AM - 3 PM, and tickets can be purchased online in advance.
On Saturday, July 4, the museum will offer special admission of just $2.50 per person, with free admission for children ages 6 and younger, in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Guests can explore the museum’s new special exhibition, Arizona Histories, American Stories, which examines pivotal moments in United States history through objects connected to Arizona. Inspired by the Journal of Arizona History article “Arizona and the Nation: Exploring U.S. History through Arizona Objects,” the exhibition showcases artifacts that reveal how Arizona’s people, places, and experiences have shaped–and been shaped by–the broader American story. “I think that many Arizonans see the 250th as an important milestone for the nation, but struggle to connect it to their lives—but Arizona history is American history, and American history is Arizona history,” said Jaynie Adams, AHS History Engagement Manager. “The goal of the exhibit is to encourage visitors to see their personal histories, or the history of their community, as an essential part of the nation’s story: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.”
From public health and innovation to military service, migration, transportation, and cultural change, the exhibit highlights the ways local history connects to national events, themes, and a much larger story that continues to resonate today.

There is free parking in the Main Gate Garage; parking tickets can be validated at the museum front desk.
