This Independence Day, the Arizona Historical Society invites the community to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary with a special open house at the Pioneer Museum on Saturday, July 4.
The event offers free admission and a unique opportunity to explore one of northern Arizona’s most beloved cultural landmarks. While new exhibits are still under development, visitors will have the chance to reconnect with the museum, learn about its future plans, and experience the site’s rich history firsthand. Guests are invited to engage with Northern Arizona’s history and gain insight into upcoming exhibits and programming ahead of the museum’s return to a regular public schedule.
Located in the historic Coconino County Hospital for the Indigent, the Pioneer Museum preserves and shares the stories of the people, industries, and events that shaped northern Arizona. The Fourth of July open house offers a rare opportunity for the public to visit the museum as preparations continue for future exhibitions and programming.
“I am so excited to see everyone come out and ‘sneak a peek’ at the museum, so tell your friends and create a ‘buzz’ about our upcoming reopening,” said Pioneer Museum Manager Kathy Farretta, “Many thanks to the Northern Arizona Pioneers’ Historical Society for their ongoing support, and Sen. Wendy Rogers for securing the funds to bring back our museum!”
The museum will be free and open to the public from 10 AM - 3 PM. We look forward to reconnecting with our community and sharing the stories that have shaped northern Arizona's rich history.
