Step into a kinetic sculpture adventure at the STEAM Machines™ in Motion Camp at ASU Chandler Innovation Center, where creativity, engineering, and storytelling collide. In this immersive, week-long day camp for ages 15 – 18, you will be designing and building eye-catching kinetic sculptures that bring a story to life. Along the way, you’ll explore gears, gadgets, and gizmos as you learn the engineering design process and apply real STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) concepts to create your own steampunk automata. Guided by expert instructors you’ll dive into hands-on problem-solving with mechanical movement design, electric circuits, programming, computational thinking, and various artistic aesthetics, using tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, Arduino microcontrollers, and even artificial intelligence as part of the design process. Through teamwork, brainstorming, rapid prototyping, and creative experimentation, you’ll turn bold ideas into working machines—then showcase your finished project in a final exposition and take it home. Running daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, this camp is the perfect way to power up your summer, spark your imagination, and unleash your inner inventor.
