Create a special cajita to honor your ancestors. These special Memory boxes made of recycled materials are decorated with a special person or theme in mind. Participants will bring their own photographs and any additional decorations they want to include. All other supplies including boxes, colored and patterned paper, trims, and other fun notions will be provided. The workshop will be lead by Cultural Coalition's Executive Director, Carmen Guerrero. Description

Create a special cajita to honor your ancestors. These special Memory boxes made of recycled materials are decorated with a special person or theme in mind. Participants will bring their own photographs and any additional decorations they want to include. All other supplies including boxes, colored and patterned paper, trims, and other fun notions will be provided. The workshop will be lead by Cultural Coalition's Executive Director, Carmen Guerrero.

This workshop takes place Tuesday, October 14th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Mask Alive Art Collection Gallery located in suite 1155 at the Arizona Center.

About the Artist

Carmen Guerrero, (Kambiwá/Brazilian/Xicanindia) Cultural Coalition Executive Director, Beading Artist, Musician – Producer of multiple annual cultural festivals in Arizona through her nonprofit Cultural Coalition. As an artistic producer, she is committed and dedicated to issues of cultural literacy and social justice. As an educator and teaching artist, she shares her indigenous roots through music and art to foster multicultural understanding. As an artivist/arts advocate, she co-founded Xicanindio (now Xico, Inc.), the Arizona Latino Arts Center, and the Cultural Coalition.

  • Workshop Price: $30 including taxes and fees covers some materials (not including personal touches), support of the artist, and a donation to Cultural Coalition
  • Parking: Parking garage is located at 401 East Fillmore, Phoenix, AZ 85004 and 2-hour parking validations will be provided to all workshop participants.
  • Location in AZ Center: Workshop will be held in Suite #1155 - Cultural Coalition's Mask Alive Art Collection Gallery at the Arizona Center (Near ColdStone)
