This year’s Laveen and South Mountain Picnic takes place from 1-5 p.m. on April 5 at Ashley’s Backyard, 4735 W. Elliot Road, Laveen. The picnic is a day of fun, food, and festivities for families and residents of all ages. It’s designed to foster a sense of togetherness in an area that has seen rapid development in recent years. Kids’ activities will include face-painting, bounce houses, and snow cones to help cool off. Several community organizations and local leaders will also be in attendance, further reinforcing the event’s focus on local engagement.
Community leaders attending include Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego; Tracy Lopez, deputy chief of staff for Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs; Phoenix Council members Carlos Galindo-Elvira and Kesha Hodge Washington; and Arizona Senator Catherine Miranda. Residents will have an opportunity to informally chat with elected officials, fostering stronger connections between the community and its leaders.
