South Mountain Environmental Education Center (SMEEC) is a 10,000 ft² education and event center located on the north side of South Mountain Park/Preserve. The facility is a hub for guests exploring the park/preserve that it calls home as well as a gathering place for the community to learn about plants, animals, natural history and the conservation needs of the Sonoran Desert. It also is a popular destination for school field trips.

South Mountain Environmental Education Center (SMEEC) serves as an education resource center for many of the City's school children, residents and visitors to South Mountain. The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is excited to open the doors once again to visitors so they can learn about the rich wildlife and culture Phoenix has to offer.
