St. Joseph's Youth Camp

St. Joseph’s Youth Camp is a nonprofit, non-denominational summer camp nestled in the pines of Mormon Lake, just outside Flagstaff, Arizona. For more than 75 years, we’ve provided day and overnight camp experiences for ages 6–17 that prioritize safety, fun, outdoor adventure, and character growth — with convenient transportation options available.

About Us

Picture horseback riding through the pines, s’mores under a star-filled sky, and friendships that last long after summer ends. For more than 75 years, St. Joseph’s Youth Camp has created meaningful, joy-filled camp experiences where kids grow in confidence, independence, and community.

Located just outside Flagstaff in Mormon Lake, Arizona, SJYC is a non-denominational, 501(c)(3) nonprofit summer camp serving youth ages 6–17. Families choose SJYC for our strong safety culture, experienced and caring staff, affordable pricing, and classic camp programs that balance fun, personal growth, and time unplugged in nature. Bus transportation is available from Phoenix (overnight camp) and Flagstaff (day camp).

Our Summer Camp Programs

Day Camp (Ages 6–12)

Perfect for families in and around the Flagstaff area, our Day Camp allows campers to experience the magic of SJYC while returning home each evening.

Campers enjoy archery, arts and crafts, outdoor exploration, STEAM projects, games, and new friendships in a supportive, age-appropriate environment. Each day is designed to build confidence, creativity, and connection — all while having a whole lot of fun.

Overnight Camp (Ages 6–12)

Our traditional overnight camper weeks are the heart of St. Joseph’s Youth Camp.

During a 7-day, 6-night stay, campers experience classic camp activities like horseback riding, archery, kayaking, crafts, songs, and outdoor education. Along the way, they build independence, resilience, and friendships — all while being cared for by trained staff who treat campers like family. Optional bus transportation is available from the Phoenix area.

Teen Week (Ages 13–14)

Teen Week is a next-level camp experience designed just for teens.

Campers participate in traditional camp favorites like horseback riding, archery, kayaking, and high ropes, along with special teen-only activities that encourage teamwork, confidence, and leadership. Teen Week offers space to grow, connect, and stretch in new ways — while still being rooted in fun.

Counselor-in-Training Program (Ages 15–17)

The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is a one-week immersive experience focused on leadership, communication, responsibility, and community-mindedness.

CITs participate in hands-on activities, group challenges, and guided discussions while building strong friendships and learning what it means to lead with care. Those selected may be invited to return during camper weeks to put their skills into practice and earn community service hours.
