The Spring Equinox is celebrated by many cultures throughout the world and in Arizona, it marks the return of Turkey Vultures to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. These fascinating scavengers spend the spring and summer here before departing for their winter habitat in Mexico. Visitors can learn about the buzzards from ASU Professor Dave Pearson, the guest "Vulture-ologist." Early morning, the vultures lift off from their perches to hunt and fly overhead. After "lift off" visitors can enjoy bird walks in the gardens and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Bring your camera! There will also be a special exhibit of rehabilitated raptors on display with Fallen Feathers just outside the Smith Building.
